The Mummy (Movie)

I don't generally like movies involving mummies, and so I was pleasently surprised when I finally saw 'The Mummy'. Its become one of my favorite movies, entertaining and funny, with something for everything.

Its a delightful satire, with a touch of romance (not to much, which is refreshing) a rather predictable storyline, but some brilliant one liners, gun fights at every turn, and special effects up the wazoo.

Brenden Fraser does a great job as the sterotipical hero figure, gun in each hand, charming smile, and some of the best lines in the movie.

Rachel Weisz is a librarian who's a walking talking typhoon of bad luck. She's determined to save the world after unleashing a terrable evil, and manages to convince a reluctant Brenden to help her. She's charming and sweet, and pulls off a heroine that doesn't scream "Save Me" at every twist of misfortune.

Her brother, (who's name I have sadly forgoten and must go look up) Is hilarious, slightly cowardly, but full of bravado. He gets into all sorts of trouble and still manages to talk himself out of it one way or another. While he is the older sibling, its clear that Evie (rachels' character) takes care of him and keeps him out of trouble. He's quirky and lovable, and you can't help but like him.

The movie is worth seeing if only to enjoy the satire, and Brenden and Rachel give a worthwhile and convincing performance.

(Few warnings, there's bugs, so if you don't like them, be sure and close your eyes when you hear the 'skittering' noises. and like I said, there are special effects which are awesome for the most part, but not for the skittish...)

I absolutely loved the movie!  Unfortunately, I saw the second first.  I have to say, I agree with everything you said.  I love how there's not so many "awkward" moments when everybody's trying too hard to make you laugh.  x3

I have the set of three that includes 'the Scorpion King' dear lord that movie is so cheesy, I only watch it if I need a dose of cheesy:P I am sorry, but who thinks The Rock can act? (at least in this movie)

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked that movie too.  I thought it'd be stupid, but I was impressed.  It wasn't predictable, (to me,) and kept me interested.

I keep thinking I should buy it but haven't yet.

I actually just watched it last night.   ^^;  But I have to say, that was some pretty awesome animation for when it came out.  =)

The animation was pretty decent, I love watching those back to back, the humor always draws me in:)
