Well, with the coming of Hellboy 2 and the urging of Tyto, I decided to give the movie a shot. I was skeptical to say the least. Natzi's, demons, special effects and slimy alian like things? I figured it wasn't for me.

I was most pleasently surprised. Other then the disguesting (aformentioned slimy alien type bad guys) and the occasional sprinkling of cheese, the movie exceeded my expectations.

The action was non stop, and fast paced, it yanked you in and kept your attention, there was no looking to the time, or yawning, wondering when it was going to end.

The lines were right on the mark, some of this writing was just great, restoring my faith in hollywoods ability to still procure some decent talent. Hellboy's wry humor and cavalier attitude made the movie. The leading role belonged to Ron Perlman, (who is unrecognizable, but about halfway through you start to go, hey wait a sec... i know him...) And in my opinion, he brings the role to life.  The supporting cast didn't do so badly either.  The romantic aspect wasn't overplayed, which was nice, and there was just enough to make you go awwwww, without getting all yucky. The plot was engaging, a door to ah somehwere, is opened, a small red demon gets through. He's reared to adulthood by a kindy old man, and joins a group of other 'unique' people to hunt for the monsters. There's lots of talk about destiny, creepy old dudes that can't be killed (shiver) and some pretty kick but special effects.

It wasn't a hands down GREAT movie, the kind that makes you just weak in the knees with its awesomness. But it was entertaining, funny, and better then 80% of the movies that come out. I am actually looking forward to the 2nd edition, coming out this year. It brings back the director/writer of the first, as well as almost all of the original cast, excluding the young man who played Myers ( I rather liked his character, but he wasn't a lead, so its understandable that he won't be returning) Hellboy II: The Golden Army, is released here July 11th, anyone up for seeing it with me?

Oh yeah, and best line of the movie, in fact, best line I've heard in a long while

(Hellboy grabs bad guy,) "You killed my father, your ***** is MINE!"

It has a certain ring no?

Did I not tell you it was amazing?

Now you just have to give Mr. Bean's Holiday another chance... but that's another topic...

Yayz for Hellboy!  I had never heard of it before and then my dad rented it.  I was hooked!  He's such a funny guy.  I really like him.  He's really tough but he's also a total softy.

I totally want to see the second one.  My sister wasn't as impressed with it though so she doesn't want to go with me.  Talk about rude!  Oh well.  I've gone to movies alone before and I'll do it again!

Yeah, I saw about half of it.  Yet even with being halfway in, I was still impressed.  I never knew he'd been found by the professor until the previews of the 2nd, but yeah.  xD  I totally agree with you on this one, Kavi.
